ABOUT APILLO

‘Apillo’ is an empathetic comfort device that assists hospital staff in providing quality care to vulnerable and isolated patients. The wearable pillow, along with the storage & heating device, are designed to fit seamlessly into hospital infrastructure. Apillo helps patients to receive comfort and care in otherwise high-stress situations.

My inspiration for this project was inspired by the isolation we all witnessed during the Covid-19 pandemic. When critical care patients were unable to physically be with their loved ones. I began researching, ideating and developing solutions over a year long period, until I arrived at Apillo. My main design guide was to create a soft product that can allow users to derive positive sensations and reduce situation-induced stress levels. It was also important that the product wasn’t cumbersome for staff members and allowed for easy introduction into existing infrastructures.
